Military all terrain vehicleAirborne Trailer (ATR)

Strong Enterprises, the worlds' leading full line producer of equipment for parachuting and pioneer of the revolutionary Airborne ATV has expanded its product line to include an Airborne Trailer (ATR).

Concept
Ted Strong, originator of the “Tandem” method of skydive training, could not stop thinking of how to drop even more people together. After years of positive proof of the tandem concept, the “Quad Pod” as it was called, was successfully dropped. After just 3 drops it became apparent that just getting people safely to the ground was only half the battle. Without ground mobility the Quad Pod fell short of the real mark. Next came the idea of rigging and dropping an ATV with a pilot/driver on board from exit to landing. Immediatly successful, the Airborne ATV has been dropped from altitudes as high as 25,000 feet.

The ATR, concept includes being dropped on the same pass as the Airborne ATV. Independently launched with a static line deployed drogue, the manned ATR falls to approximately 9000 ft. where the ATR Pilot then deploys the 1,200 sq. ft. ram-air canopy. After landing at the predetermined site, the AATV and ATR jettison their parachutes, connect the AATV ball to the retractable ATR hitch and become a completly mobile, tactical transport unit, ready for immediate action.

Operation SpecialistMission
The ATR is a low maintenance, airborne transport vehicle, that provides military services with entirely new capabilities and greatly expands the range of tactical support. The multi-task ATR can be dropped with any combination of driver plus riders, and/or equipment, up to a total of 1,650 lbs. Designed with the built-in flexibility to meet most aerial delivery criterion, the ATR can be reconfigured for vastly different roles. Low-profiled and streamlined, the ATR has a metal grid decking that allows the passage of air, lowers the overall weight and provides unlimited tie-down locations.

Passengers or Cargo
The four padded passenger seats are slightly inclined and come equipped with a four point restraint harness for security. A full roll cage protects the occupants and still allows for easy egress in the event of an emergency. Each seat back folds down to reconfigure the deck for cargo. Compartments under each seat provide additional storage.

Troops deliveryTraining Vehicle
Because the ATR can be manned with up to four personnel from aircraft exit to the ground, the on-board instructor can pass the controls to each candidate facilitating safe, supervised canopy control, from stalls, turns and flares, through landings. The controls are accessible to two primary pilots under drogue and all four riders after canopy deployment. The ATR is an ideal vehicle for training personnel in the flight characteristics of large (1200 sq ft) ram-air canopies, allowing them to step up to flying the Airborne ATV solo.
